I absolutely love Rust. I have no doubt it will become a staple in programming in general and I see it as the uncontested successor of C in the Embedded field (I have yet to take a shot a Zig though).

I find its strict and rich type system to be a blessing and I gladly accept the costs and complexities that come with it.

That being said, dismissing the steep learning curve and long compilation times like they are not real issues is dumb. One should always strive to find better solution, and as you point out simplicity is a very tangible feature of programming languages. There will always be room for simpler approaches.
